Life in Athlete’s Village

HELLO~~ How’s life going?? Are you enjoying the athletics lately??
I want to show you what is happening in the Athlete’s Village which has heavy security for the safety of the resident athletes.
I got some rare pics of the athletes here that are never going to show up on TV.

Nowdays, in Yulha-dong Athlete’s Village they provide special fun programs for the athletes.
OK, now, let’s sneak into the Village~!

Handprints and Footprints on copper plates of the gold medalists of the Champs will be exhibited.
They collect the handprints for the throwing event and the footprints for the track event
Hope the medalists enjoy the printing event.

Mime performance was going on in the village.
Some athletes were taking pictures of it.

Nail art service for the athletes!
Lots of women athletes were getting their nails done~~
This is why all of them got really polished nails on TV. lol

Some athletes were taking pics wearing traditional clothing (Hanbok) at the photo zone.

Hanbok with beautiful colors~~ They went well on the women athletes. J

Making Korean china and traditional mask event was going on.

They must have been pretty tired but seemed quite serious with their works. :P

Athlete’s Village was constructed in Daegu for the first time ever in the World Athletic Champs history.
Every athlete enjoy the programs the village offers and the rest of the athletics!
Stay tuned for the next Champs stories~~ @-@/

Daegu 2011 Daily Programme curse?! - IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011

For the first four days of the championships, the athlete pictured on the cover of the daily programme has failed to live up to expectations - some more spectaculars than others.

On the first day, the daily programme distributed at the Daegu Stadium had pictures of the Olympic and world pole vault champion, Steve Hooker.

Incidentally, Steve Hooker was put out in the qualifying rounds of his pole vault competition.

When Usain Bolt was disqualified for a false start in the men's 100m final on the second day, it just happened that Usain Bolt was on the cover.

As of 28 Aug, people said that the athlete pictured on the cover of the daily programme was put under a curse.

On the third day, Dayron Robles chosen as a cover model for the daily programme was disqualified after winning the world championships 110m hurdles final.

The curse of the daily programme continued at the World Championships as Yelena Isinbayeva failed to win back her title in the pole vault in Daegu.

But the curse soon starts to wane after Russia's Olga Kaniskina has celebrated winning the women's 20km race walk final.

Many journalists said that she has broken the curse of the cover to win 20km walk.

So, day six arrives today with Yargeris Savigne featured on the front of the daily programme.

Can she be the next curse breaker?

The evening session on day six starts at 7PM with the men's javelin throw qualification.

Enjoy the IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011 on the Market Street

Did you enjoy the last story about the Market Street??
People looked really fun outside the stadium.

Good thing you can hang around east side of the stadium without a ticket.
Today, let’s find out what kind of fun things around the stadium!!

First, official support company TOYOTA revealed its booth exhibiting new cars.

They put LCD TV on the wall and game consoles so that you can play some video games.
The line was soooo long though. T . T

The most popular booth was SAMSUNG’s.

People were waiting to get in.

Seeing the moving grass on the LCD monitor makes you feel like you run through green grassland. The blue tacks on the floor looks like the Mondo Track.

You can experience athletics with the motion sensor game.
If you win a game, you will get a gift.

I see the booth of the official support wire company KT

Official partner SEIKO’s booth

You can check the finish lines of the track event.

Inside the booth was the shop of SEIKO watches~~

TDK booth

Cool figure of the two-story Adidas booth.
It was very crowded.

You can buy official souvenirs here.

Soooo popular!

The most popular one was Sarbi~~^^
The official souvenirs sell in the booth at the gate 4.

Promotion booth for the World Champs in Athletics Moscouw 2013 was also there.
Look forward to it!

There were also lots of booths for other events that will be held in Korea sooner or later, for example 2015 Gwangju Universiad.

2013 PyeongChang Special Winter Olympics booth
(It’s different from 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics)

Cute mascots 바우(Bow), (La), (In) are on the table.

Yeosu EXCO booth

Meet the mascots Yeoni(여니), Suni(수니) at the booth~~

Keep track of the IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011!!!^______^

People on the Market Street of the IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011

With the whole heat of the Champs people from every edge of the world gather on the Market Street. Especially the east side of the Market Street easily gets crowded.

We wouldn’t just stay inside of the stadium so we went out to chill.

Mascot Sarbi is always gets attention.

Sarbi gets more popular with the launch of the festival.
He has become so socialized.
Come around and say hi to Sarbi anytime.

There will be Korean traditional performance in front of the Athletic Experience Zone.

What on the earth are those people waiting for??

AHA! They were waiting to get an autograph of Korea’s legendary marathon runner Lim Chun Ae.

Some people were sunbathing on the grass. lol

See the girl trying to make resting people fill in the questionnaire??

Hmm people were quiet serious with the questions though... I’m sure the paper was about the Chams.

We happened to meet the Belarus cheering team,

and some other students from all over the world.

When it comes to world festivs, the press has to be in.

Yay! Lunch time!!
The tasty foods from the world are set for you.

How was today’s story of the Market Street?

There are bunch of fun stuffs at the Daegu Stadium~~
Come by and make some ‘funthletic’ memories!!
