IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011 Watching point - 3. The moment of catching up - 800m

Today, I would like to introduce 800m race but probably most people hardly think of star athletes in 800m.

In addition, some people might think that 800m race is far from the charming of prompt result in short-range or of endurance in long distance race.

But, in fact it is 800m race that you could enjoy those charms spontaneously because this race requires nearly the same speed in short-range race and endurance in long distance in order to go around 400m track two times.

And athletes also have to keep in mind running strategy until the end of race.

Catching up in athletic event is unmissable watching point and occurs frequently in 800m or 1,500m.

Then who could be the most noted female 800m sprinter in this August?

It was David Lekuta Rudisha who won the award of “Athlete of the Year” as the youngest.

This 22-year-old sprinter has the world record of 1:41:01 in 800m.
